($65) Bright medium ruby. High-pitched aromas of currant, cedar and smoke. Sweet, lush and rich; a step up in depth, structure and energy from the Firebelle and cabernet bottlings. Flavors of currant, tobacco, cedar and graphite. Finishes silky, long and classically dry, with a hint of herbs and ripe tannins. A very grown-up Bordeaux blend based on 61% cabernet sauvignon. This winery is to be commended for its fair pricing.

About Napa Valley

Napa Valley is the most famous wine-growing area in the U.S. It begins at the base of Mount St. Helena in the north and tapers off some 30 miles to the south into the floodplain where the Napa River enters San Francisco Bay. From Mount St. Helena to the city of Napa, the valley is defined by two north-south ridgelines of the Coast Range Mountains.
