($42) Inky violet. Explosive dark berry, floral, tobacco and mineral aromas display striking clarity and pungency. Deep, velvety and sweet, offering deep blackberry and blackcurrant liqueur flavors, a suggestion of spicy licorice and suave tannic support. Impressively vibrant on the long, juicy finish. The vines here are reportedly over 100 years old and the yield is less than a half-pound of grapes per vine. (Ole Imports, New Rochelle, NY)
