($38) Inky purple. Exotically perfumed bouquet offers spicy raspberry and blackberry scents, along with notes of violet and black olive. Classic syrah on the nose and the palate, with sweet red berry and spice flavors gaining weight and richness with air. Juicy, focused and gently chewy on the long, penetrating finish, which leaves an exotic apricot pit note behind.

Good fruit flavors with full and pleasing nose, but a bit light in body and short on length of finish with too much acid still left in it. I would not buy it again.

Syrah

Here, steep, terraced vineyards help produce full-bodied, intense, tannic wines loaded with white pepper and red fruit. In the vineyard, Syrah is largely cooperative- vines are productive, but not overly vigorous. Skins are thick, helping the grape...
