($135) Deep, bright red. Powerful aromas of cherry, blackberry, smoky minerals and violet. Lush and creamy on the palate, offering sweet, liqueur-like dark berry flavors and a refreshing jolt of minerals. I looked for tannins but they were buried under the sexy fruit. Finishes bright and delineated. This is far more elegant than most wines from this vintage. The red wines from Vernay have been going from strength to strength in recent vintages.
