About Araujo Estate

Since 1990, Bart and Daphne Araujo have carried on the tradition of making monster Cabernets from the Eisele Vineyard, adding Syrah into the mix as well. Their flagship bottling is dense, powerful and rich, typically with soil-inflected notes of plum, mocha, tobacco and smoke, and very suave tannins.

92 Points | International Wine Cellar , May/June 2008

($95; based on 91% cabernet sauvignon) Good deep ruby-red. Smoky black raspberry, mocha, tobacco, earth and brown spices on the nose, along with a saline hint. Sweet, concentrated and serious, with an attractive sugar/acid balance to the flavors of dark berries and chocolate. Firmly structured and quite impressive for a second wine.
