About Harlan Estate
In 1983, when Bill Harlan bought an estate in a steep, forested area of Oakville, his aim was to create a Napa Valley First Growth. Whether he has come that far is open to argument, but he certainly has come close.
2005 Harlan Estate Red Wine Napa Valley
Producer: Harlan Estate

Grape Type: Bordeaux Blend
Origin: California
Region: Napa
96 Points | International Wine Cellar , June 2010
Good deep ruby-red. Very ripe aromas of currant, tobacco, graphite, loam and smoke; hints at an almost roasted ripeness. Then densely packed, opulent and layered in the mouth, showing more fat and sweetness today than the 2006 but a slightly more granular and less refined texture. Plenty of tannins here but they hit the palate late, allowing the lush fruit to open out and build. This is easier to taste today than the 2006 but is still very young.
