2006 Egon Muller Scharzhofberger Riesling Auslese

Owners of most of the great Scharzhofberg vineyard since Napoleon's time, the Müllers are famous for a wide range of sweet, selectively picked Riesling bottlings, the best of which are sold at auction, often at record prices. One usually gets what one pays for: the more expensive a given Scharzhofberger bottling at any given predicate level, the better. Still, the basic "Scharzhof" estate bottling, from well-situated vines in Saar burg, is routinely a good bet.
