2006 Arrowood Vineyards and Winery Pinot Blanc Saralee's Vineyard Russian Valley

Chardonnay and Cabernet are the most important varieties from a commercial standpoint for veteran winemaker Richard Arrowood, but his Viogniers and his unusually rich barrel-aged Pinot Blanc have been consistently excellent for many years, especially the rather full-bodied tropical, honeyed, minerally wines made from Saralee's Vineyard in Russian River Valley. Even though he no longer maintains ownership here, Arrowood still is in charge of the production -- and when you taste the wines, it's clear that his heart is certainly still in it.
