($11) Medium ruby-red. Blackberry, licorice and mint on the nose. Dense but bright, with firm acid grip to the pure dark berry flavors. Offers good intensity and a restrained sweetness. A very nice bottle of malbec for the price.

Bright, smooth, subtle fruitiness, and soft tannins. Goes very well with highly seasoned food. Excellent wine to have on hand for casual drinking and a great buy for the price.

The Malbec grape may have originated in southwest France, where it still is grown under the name Cot. However, the grape's international profile has surged not because of what's going on in France, but rather because of current trends in Argentina.
