Expert Reviews
55% Cabernet Sauvignon; 40% Merlot; 5% Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Complex and comparatively forward when measured against its more classically structured cousins, the 2006 Giscours is a mannerly wine of quiet sophistication. Its nicely proportioned mix of sweet fruit, oak and herbs offers lots to like now, and, if not built for the long-haul, it gets the nod for its refinement and near-term appeal.
Bright ruby-red. Cool, inky aromas of kirsch and berries; pure but restrained today. Ripe and rich, with a broad, airy texture; conveys an impression of fullness without weight or excess sweetness. Quite gentle for the vintage. Expands nicely on the broad finish, which features sweet, fine tannins. The wine's volume is impressive but will it be bottled with the energy to merit a 90+ rating?
