This left bank estate sits in close proximity to the Gironde estuary in the Haut-Medoc. Under vine since the 16th century, Chateau Charmail is now owned by Bernard D'Halluin, who works closely with the estate's former owner, Olivier Seze.

85-87 Points | Stephen Tanzer's IWC - May/June 2007

Medium ruby. Tarry black fruits and spicy oak on the nose. Broad and primary but a bit inky and ungiving. This has some density but comes across as tough today, without the depth of flavor or personality of recent vintages. Finishes with granular tannins.
