About Chateau Guiraud
This chateau, recently purchased by a consortium led by auto magnate Robert Peugeot, produces a distinctly restrained style of Sauternes that emphasizes the pungent, firmer quality of Sauvignon Blanc over the more exotic tones of Sémillon.

($32-$45) Good bright, medium gold. Slightly swampy, resiny nose seems blocked by SO2 today. Then chewy and expressive on the palate, with bright acids framing the flavors of peach nectar, orange rind and clove. In an opulent style, but finishes quite firm, with very good spicy persistence. This needs a few years to harmonize.
