2006 Bodegas Castano Monastrell Yecla Tinto

Castano, a large co-operative in Yecla, is a source of some stunning values, mostly based on Monastrell (known outside of Spain as Mourvèdre.) This grape is especially well-suited to the Yecla appellation, as it's able to handle, and even benefits from the long, hot summers and periods of drought. The Solanera, made for the American market, is a blend of 70% Monastrell, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Garnacha.
