10% Merlot; 2% Petit Verdot. A nice bit of sweet oak sits to the side of ripe currants and a note of dried grapes in the rich and very ripe aromas of this outgoing effort, and its slightly jammy, tannin-trimmed flavors are much of the same mind. There is not a lot of complexity here, but few will find the wine lacking in richness, and, given the opportunity to rest for a few years, it should round into shape and match up nicely with well-seasoned lamb.

My wife opened one of the two bottles of Crane Brothers after it had arrived and before I had a chance to tell her about it and put the other downstairs. She opened it for dinner with my brother and his wife while I was out of town. She said, "where did you get that wine? It was lovely!" No cellaring this one! The second bottle was opened on my return (I could not let her have all the fun and me have to wait a couple of years)...beautiful aroma and a full, earthy mouthful of oaky fruit with a nice finish. I only wish I could order more.
