(55% cabernet sauvignon, 35% cabernet franc and 10% merlot) Saturated ruby. Highly nuanced nose offers dark raspberry, violet, bitter chocolate, mocha, smoke and tobacco, along with a whiff of bell pepper. Sweet, lush and densely packed, with lovely finesse of texture. The flavors of currant, fresh herbs and chocolate began a bit reticent but gained in sweetness as the wine opened in the glass. Finishes youthful and sweet, with very suave tannins. I would not be at all surprised if this sophisticated blend merited a higher rating five years down the road.
