($115; includes 7% syrah; 16.1% alcohol) Inky purple. An expansive, seductive bouquet features smoky red and dark berries, orange peel, sandalwood incense and white pepper. Shockingly energetic, offering vivacious, pinot-like red berry and exotic floral pastille flavors. Silky tannins add shape but are instantly absorbed by the succulent fruit. Becomes spicier on the finish, which is remarkably fresh, precise and persistent. As gorgeous as this wine is right now I have no doubt that it will reward patience.
