2001 Bruno Giacosa Barolo Le Rocche del Falletto Serralunga Riserva

Giacosa is an ultra-traditionalist, who until recently produced most of his Barolos and Barbarescos from purchased fruit. His track record is long, marked by superconcentrated, wonderfully aromatic wines with uncompromising structure and impressive longevity. They are among the most sought-after wines of Italy. In the best vintages, he bottles some wines as riserva, with a deep Burgundy-colored label. Giacosa also makes intensely flavored, highly scented, classically dry Arneis, with notes of fruit, sage and acacia blossom and excellent vinosity?perhaps the most serious example of this variety produced in Piedmont.
