Emilia Nardi uses clonal selections and vinification of small lots to make the best wine possible. The bulk of her vineyard holdings are in the northwest corner of Montalcino; these are the source of the basic Brunello, which is reliable, if not outstanding. Nardi's Manachiara bottling, on the other hand, is first-rate. Made with fruit from the southern part of the region, this is made in a smoother and less tannic style than some other top Brunellos.
