2006 Claudio Alario Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba Montagrillo

Claudio is best known for deeply fruity, pure, smooth Dolcettos from Diano d'Alba, an area between the Barolo and Barbaresco zones where many of the top vineyard locations are farmed to this varietal. The Costafiore generally needs a bit more time in bottle than the more quickly approachable Montegrillo. Still, the reputation of Nebbiolo holds plenty of appeal to winemakers, so Alario makes several versions, made in a ripe, late-harvest style, from his holdings in Verduno.
