($13; 60% garnacha, 30% viura and 10% tempranillo) Pale pink. Impressively complex nose offers redcurrant, wild strawberry, blood orange and white flowers. Clean and sharply focused, with pure red berry flavors and a suave mineral undertone. For the money, I can't think of a more elegant and lithe pink wine on the market.

Less strawberry, more structure

This is a delicious offering from Muga, and remains an excellent value even as prices for their red Riojas soar. It has a preponderance of slightly tart raspberry and cherry flavors over a fine-boned structure, dispensing with the sweet strawberry fruit and making it a somewhat more serious, contemplative wine than most rosados I have tried. But no sourness appears as it warms slightly, and it remains pleasantly aromatic and drinkable. Great for sipping on a beach with a classic Russian novel.
