($18) Opaque ruby. Aromas of redcurrant, cherry, dried rose and cracked pepper, with a gentle smoky undertone. Red and dark berry flavors are fresh, nervy and precise, with a cured meat quality adding complexity. The slightly dry finish repeats the cherry and pepper notes and clings nicely. Distinctly Old World in style, with no excess fat or easy sweetness.
