About Maison Chapoutier
Maison Chapoutier, the first négociant and producer to mark their bottlings with braille, was established in 1879 by Polydor Chapoutier. The business has remained family owned since then and is now run by Michel Chapoutier. His hands off approach to winemaking has lead to a resurgence in quality at Maison Chapoutier, which now produces some of the finest wines in the Rhone region of France.

($210) Dark ruby. Pungent aromas of dark berries, licorice, cured meat and smoky minerals, along with brooding notes of tobacco, olive and espresso. Extremely young and ungiving today, opening very slowly to offer weighty dark fruit compote flavors and a musky licorice root note. The most unyielding of this set, with strong finishing grip and lingering smokiness. This doesn't just need time, it demands it.
