($45; 100% sauvignon blanc) Bright yellow. Powerfully aromatic nose offers a complex bouquet of mineral-laced peach, melon and pear scents, along with dried flowers and baking spices. Broad, palate-staining pit fruit and citrus peel flavors are energized by dusty minerals and bitter lemon pith, picking up white pepper with aeration. Finishes firm and chewy, with outstanding persistence. Reminded me of a wine from Didier Dagueneau. I was floored when Jim Anderson told me that it clocked in at 16.3% alcohol as it is light to medium in body and bone dry, with excellent focus and no sense of warmth. Really.
