About Chehalem

Almost thirty years ago Harry Peterson-Nedry began scouting potential vineyard locations in Oregon's burgeoning wine country. ($60) Medium red. Dark berries and cherry preserves on the nose, with a strong undertone of baking spices. Sweet, silky and broad, with deep red and dark berry flavors, supple tannins and mounting spiciness. Finishes with very good clarity and lift, with the sweet cherry quality repeating.

Been one of the last ones too really start enjoying Pinot Noirs. I guess it was because I was hesitant to spend over $30. on a bottle of wine unless it was a special occasion. This Pinot, although a little higher than that is excellent. I really enjoyed the initial taste and the lingering effect it has as well.

The skins are especially delicate, which accounts for the lighter color and body of finished wine. But, despite the delicacy, the best wines have excellent backbone and...
