Superripe but not stewy on the nose, offering a complex range of black fruits, bitter chocolate, cedar, graphite, tar, dill and black pepper. Suave and sweet, with impressive mid-palate volume and an intriguing graphite minerality to complicate the crushed black raspberry flavor. Here the 8% malbec component takes the place of merlot to add aromatics, notes Sullivan. Finishes with huge tannins that appear to be supported by the wine's strong material. This will need time.
