($48; blended with 8% cabernet sauvignon) Bright medium ruby. Perfumed, rocky aromas of blackberry, blueberry, licorice, tar and pepper. Juicy and tight, with a slatey, flinty minerality currently dominating black fruit, violet and licorice flavors. Very closed today; give this plenty of aeration if you plan to pop a cork anytime soon. Possesses a firm spine for aging.
