About Chateau Clerc Milon
In 1970, the Rothschild family purchased Chateau Clerc Milon and gave it new life (the Fifth Growth estate had been suffering for years because of legal battles concerning ownership). Stainless steel vats were installed in the winery, new oak was introduced into the barrels and, as you might imagine, quality quickly improved.

($40-$45) Good deep red. Expressive aromas of currant, licorice, graphite and chocolatey oak complicated by hints of iron, leather and game. Broad, ripe and lush but quite dry; this tightened up in the glass. Offers very good texture for the vintage, though, finishing with substantial supple tannins that turned a bit tougher with aeration. I'd lay this down for a few years.
