About Chateau Grand Puy Lacoste
Despite being classified in 1855 as a Fifth growth, Grand Puy Lacoste consistently outperforms its rank, due largely to the Cabernet which provides a solid structure to the wine. Francois Xavier Borie, who inherited the estate from his father, currently oversees the production of 12,000 cases annually.
2007 Chateau Grand Puy Lacoste Pauillac (in magnum)
Producer: Chateau Grand Puy Lacoste
Style: Red Wine
Grape Type: Bordeaux Blend
Origin: France
Region: Bordeaux
Appellation: Pauillac
88 Points | International Wine Cellar , July/August 2010
($50-$65) Bright ruby-red. Black cherry, licorice, leather and minerals on the nose. Sweet and pliant but slightly funky, with flavors of dark fruits, leather, tobacco leaf and herbs. With its rather silky texture, good breadth and restrained sweetness, this should drink well relatively early.
