($18) Medium ruby. Herbal, savory aromas of sour red cherry and flowers are more typical of aglianico from Taurasi than Taburno (the former typically exhibits rose petal and red cherry notes as opposed to tobacco and leather). Smooth in the middle palate, with plum and tobacco flavors framed by well-integrated acidity. The building tannins are a bit hard-edged, but this entry-level wine, from younger vines and less interesting lots, offers good structure and decent fruit. Not a blockbuster or particularly complex, but an enjoyable glass of wine and a good affordable choice for ordering in restaurants.
