2006 Francois Cotat Sancerre Chavignol Rose

The Cotat domaine in Chavignol, perhaps the most famous in the Sancerre area, is now divided between brothers François and Pascal, who work in two different facilities. Winemaking is virtually identical in both Cotat cellars but the wines from François are sometimes a bit more high-toned and racy than those of his brother, Pascal. Francois's wines have impressive richness and complexity, and they benefit from age more than most wines in Sancerre. Also look for his Sancerre Rosé, made from Pinot Noir.
