About Ridge Vineyards

One of the premier producers of Cabernet and Zinfandel blends in California, Ridge Vineyards thrives on the hands-off approach of longtime winemaker Paul Draper. These wines are generally single-site bottlings that express the unique characteristics of vineyards in the Santa Cruz Mountains, Alexander Valley and Dry Creek Valley, among others.

($30) Ruby-red color. Expressive cherry-vanilla and dark berry preserve aromas are complicated by dark chocolate and dried flowers. Spicy dark berry and plum preserve flavors coat the palate and pick up an exotic apricot pit quality with aeration. Fleshy and smooth, with very good finishing sweetness and length. This is very seductive right now.

Today's Zin styles range from elegant, taut, and claret-like midweights to superripe and potty behemoths, with off-the-charts...
