($53) Bright red-ruby. Very ripe aromas of dark cherry, blackberry, smoke and minerals. Rich and moderately sweet; packed with soil-driven flavors of dark berries, chalky minerality, spices and smoked meat. There's no easy sweetness here, but the flavors gain in lushness and breadth toward the back and finish long and ripe, with excellent grip. (American Estates Wines, Summit, NJ)
