($50; 67% cabernet sauvignon from En Cerise and 33% syrah from Morrison Lane) Medium red-ruby to the rim. Pungent dark berries, pepper, meat and crushed rock on the nose. Suave on entry, then fine-grained and smooth in the middle, with notes of minerals, smoked meat and truffle. Less obviously sweet than the Ovide and a bit cooler and more laid-back in style. Also less stony and yet this finishes with more lift. Is that Charles Smith himself on the label, wearing a halo?
