Martin Nigl works vines on the steep, volcanic terraces of the sleepy, quiet Krems valley to produce wines that are capable of shattering the silence. These are penetrating, crystalline Grüner Veltliners and Rieslings, with plenty of spicy, citric, and floral character. The depth of texture in these wines is also worth noting. In addition to the winery, Nigl runs a charming hotel and restaurant just beneath an old castle ruin in Senftenberg.
