About Betz Family Vineyards
At Betz Family Cellars, Bob Betz makes some of Washington's richest and most complete red wines from Bordeaux varieties. His success extends to Syrahs as well; these are at once silky, highly concentrated and wild -- and, along with those of Cayuse, more Rhône-like in style than any others in Washington State.
92 Points | Stephen Tanzer's IWC - November/December 2008
($44; includes 12% each syrah and mourvedre) Good full red. Complex, wild aromas of candied red fruits, gunflint, truffle, garrigue and dried flowers. The palate leads with an almost liqueur-like grenache quality, but the syrah and mourvedre components show themselves with notes of strawberry, spices, gunflint, tree bark and black pepper. This distinctly Rhone-like blend comes across as quite juicy.
