90 Points | Stephen Tanzer's IWC - September/October 2009

Very pale straw-yellow. Sexy, pure aromas of soft citrus fruits, grapefruit and lemon oil, accented by peppery herbs. Dense, sweet and supple, with lovely lift and spicy high notes to the lemon, grapefruit and pineapple flavors. A broad, fruit-driven style of sauvignon with a light touch-and distinctly polite for this bottling, showing neither the outstanding intensity and grip of the best recent vintages nor the pronounced herbaceous character of the more difficult years. But this is harmonious from the outset.

We shared a bottle of Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc with friends, and all agreed that it was the best we've ever tasted. A bit pricey, but wonderful. Fruity, crisp, and delicious.

Sauvignon Blanc

For all of its name recognition and reputation for high-quality plantings and bottlings, Sauvignon Blanc has never been represented in lists or discussions of the spectacular wines of the world. But just because wines made from Sauvignon Blanc are rarely crafted for extended cellaring and don't command staggering sums in international auctions doesn't mean that...
