About Stag's Leap Wine Cellars
Winner at the 1976 Judgement of Paris, Stag's Leap Wine Cellars showed the world that Napa Valley wine could compete with the best of France. Today, Stag's Leap continues to produce premium estate Cabernet Sauvignon from its winery in Yountville, California. Cask 23, the flagship wine, is a blend from the prized S.L.V. and Fay vineyards.

($55) Bright red-ruby. Currant, espresso, mocha, tobacco and loamy earth on the nose, with a slightly scorched character. The densest and sweetest of the rather disappointing set of cabernets I tried from this producer, but also has better definition and thrust to its juicy redcurrant flavor. Finishes with dusty tannins that coat the teeth.
