($61) Glass-staining ruby. Lively scents of raspberry, blackberry and potpourri, with a smoky mineral overlay. Supple in texture and deep in red fruit preserve and mineral flavors, with fine-grained tannins adding grip. Becomes smokier with air and picks up a peppery quality. This is drinking surprisingly well now, but give it an hour or so in a decanter to let the bouquet expand. Late-arriving notes of licorice and bitter chocolate.
