2005 Trapiche Malbec Vina Fausto Orellana La Consulta Mendoza

Ruby-red. Currant, leather, game, exotic spices and a note of eucalyptus on the nose; this brought to mind a Ravenswood Dickerson zinfandel. Suave and fine-grained, with intriguing herb, spice and mineral elements perking up the dense middle palate. The longest of these single-vineyard malbecs, finishing with a fine dusting of tannins and lovely lift and minerality. Plenty of personality.
