($57) Ruby-red. Aromas of currant, licorice, mocha, menthol and nutty oak. Currant, licorice, smoked meat and tobacco flavors show a cool menthol quality and moderate flesh. Less chewy than the 2005 version: will it put on flesh and sweetness with additional bottle aging? Today it comes across as drier than either the '06 nebbiolo or the Cuarzo. Finishes with notes of tobacco and earth. (Incidentally, all of Vina Alicia's red wines are bottled with less than two grams per liter of residual sugar; virtually all of the other Argentine reds I tasted for this issue are between two and four grams.)
