($55) Vivid ruby. Ripe cherry and dark berries on the nose. The palate shows fresher red fruits, with a hint of blood orange adding vivacity. Much more energetic than it showed from barrel, finishing with very good lift and persistence and impressive clarity.

Had this with grilled venison chops with mushroom demi-glace. Just lovely. big nose of red and purple fruits, forest floor and road tar. Intense palate of ripe, sweet purple and red fruits. Utterly; smooth, long finish. Superb. 95+ points from me. Should be good for another 10 years, but I'll bet mine doesn't last that long!

This wine was awesome. Very full, silky smooth. Very full taste.. Had to hold back from just drinking it down. Will buy more.

Tried a bottle last night and was knocked out! Straight out of the bottle the wine was delicious and smooth - for lack of a better term, the word juicy came to mind. All one would expect in a CdP was there - in spades. I can't wait to try it with other dishes (last night was mushroom risotto) although this wine is absolutely delicious on its own.

About Chateauneuf du Pape

The Rhone's Chateauneuf du Pape has been one of the hottest categories of the new millennium in the American market, thanks in equal part to the nearly candied ripeness and full-bodied, chewy texture of these wines and to an unprecedented string of four consecutive very good to outstanding vintages between 1998 and 2001.
