($56) Deep red. Pungent aromas of cherry and dark berries, with notes of licorice and black tea adding depth. A rather brooding showing for this wine, which offers rich dark fruit flavors and chewy texture. Finishes on a sweet note, with lingering cherry-cola and blackberry compote qualities. This powerful wine became smokier and spicier with air; give it a couple of years of bottle age.
