($90) Bright ruby. Perfumed nose offers medicinal red and black cherry, flowers and spices. Broad but brooding on the palate, offering rich cherry and blackberry flavors and a touch of licorice. Aeration brings a sweeter, lusher texture, with an element of cola providing sweetness. Finishes with dusty tannins, a strong note of sweet oak and good persistence. I can't imagine the fruit in this wine being able to outlast the assertive lumber. Drink up, if you like oakiness.
