91(+?) Points | Stephen Tanzer's IWC - July/August 2009

($65; 50% merlot, 35% cabernet sauvignon and 15% malbec; 14.5% alcohol) Saturated ruby. Brooding, slow-to-unwind cherry skin and dark berry aromas are complicated by licorice, tobacco and iron. Deep, chewy dark fruit flavors are framed by dusty tannins and gain sweetness with air. Tangy minerality adds urgency to the very long, gently sweet finish. Give this some time.
