($50; 80% garnacha, the rest syrah and merlot) Inky violet. Mineral-driven aromas of red and dark berries, Indian spices and rose. Deep and weighty but surprisingly lively, offering sweet raspberry and cherry flavors, slow-mounting spiciness and a zesty graphite note. Manages to be rich and lively at the same time, and finishes with strong lift and cut. I'd hold this for another couple years. (Eric Solomon Selections, Charlotte, NC)
