94 Points | Stephen Tanzer's IWC - September/October 2009
($179; from 85-year-old vines) Glass-staining ruby. Explosive aromas of boysenberry, cherry-vanilla, star anise and mocha, with a strong floral undertone. Dense in dark berry flavors but energetic, with strong spice and floral notes building with air and carrying through the broad, sweet, nearly endless finish. I'm sure that this will age well but it is drop-dead gorgeous right now. This went through malo in new American oak and then aged in new French oak but the effect of the wood is purely salutary.
