($110; from vines harvested very late) Good bright ruby-red. Perfumed but slightly green aromas of cherry, redcurrant, plum, tobacco leaf and nutty oak. Sweet on entry, then somewhat herbaceous in the middle palate, with moderate depth to the currant, earth and tobacco flavors. Finishes with building tannins. Winemaker Thomas Brown took over here from Mark Herold in January of 2008, finishing the malos of the 2007s and blending the 2006s. According to Brown, these vines are planted on heavy loamy soil on a section of the property where the water table is high, and the estate will attempt to dry-farm this site next year.
