(60% grenache and 40% carignan, from vines that are reportedly between 40 and 80 years old; aged for 16 months in 500-liter French oak casks):  Ruby-red.  Spicy red berry and cherry aromas are complemented by star anise, vanilla and cracked pepper.  This sweet, sappy midweight offers tangy redcurrant and bitter cherry flavors and slow-building spiciness.  More refined but less hefty than the regular 2007, finishing with very good clarity and length.
