($28) Deep red-ruby. Currant, spicecake, chocolate and smoke on the nose, plus a whiff of molasses. Sweet in the middle but with good energy and lift. Here the tannins are broad and nicely supported by the wine's fruit. Much better than the Canoe Ridge Estate merlot, which I found herbaceous and dried by oak.
