($85) Good bright medium red. Reticent but scented nose offers sour cherry, raspberry and rose petal. Less ripe, fruity and expressive than the young 2007 but perhaps more classic Barbaresco, with tobacco and underbrush nuances and a stronger impression of acids and tannins. Finishes a bit youthfully tough, but the fine-grained, toothcoating tannins are nonetheless suave.
